What's the deal with UGA and SAT scores?

Hey guys, I'm starting to plan for my college apps and I've been looking into UGA. But one thing I'm iffy about is understanding what SAT scores they're looking for. Has anyone here been accepted into UGA who can shed some light on what range of scores they typically accept?

The University of Georgia (UGA) doesn't explicitly state a cut-off for SAT scores as they consider various factors beyond just test scores. However, it can be beneficial to understand the general range of scores for recently admitted students, as it gives you an idea of the competitiveness of the applicant pool.

Based on the most recent data available, the middle 50% range of SAT scores for incoming first-year students at UGA tends to hover around 1280-1470. This means that 25% of admitted students scored below 1280, while another 25% scored above 1470. The majority (50%) of admitted students scored within this range.

To better gauge competitiveness, compare your own SAT score with this range. If your score is within or above this range, your SAT performance is likely competitive for UGA.

Keep in mind that while your SAT score is a significant component of your application, it's not the only one. UGA, like most universities, uses a holistic review process. This means they also consider your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, and personal essays.

For example, let's say your score is slightly below that 1280 mark. Your application can still be strong if you have an outstanding GPA, have taken rigorous courses (like APs), have impressive extracurricular activities, and write compelling essays.

So while aiming for a competitive SAT score is a good strategy, don’t forget about the rest of your application! It's this entire package that would make you a strong candidate.
