SAT Requirements for University of Washington?

Hello, future husky here (hopefully!). Can anyone share the SAT requirements for the University of Washington? I'm very excited but also stressed, so any clarity would be super helpful.

For the 2024-2025 admissions cycle, University of Washington has adopted a test-optional policy. This means that submitting SAT scores is not mandatory, and students can decide whether they want to submit their test scores or not. So, there's no strict "requirement" for an SAT score for this admissions cycle.

However, if you think your SAT scores accurately represent your academic potential and would strengthen your application, you can certainly choose to include them. If you choose not to submit any test scores, the admission officers will focus more on other parts of your application such as your GPA, the rigor of your high-school coursework, your extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation.

In previous years, when UW did consider SAT scores, the range for admitted students was typically quite high. For example, in the middle 50% of admitted students, the SAT score used to range from approximately 1220 to 1440. It's important to note that this is just a guideline and not a hard cut-off.

Remember, admission decisions are not solely based on test scores. A holistic review process is adopted where your entire profile, including academic achievements, personal qualities, involvement in your community, and more, will be considered. It's always a good practice to strive for a well-rounded application!

Good luck with your application process! The University of Washington is a great school with numerous programs and opportunities, and I bet you'll have a fantastic time there, should you be accepted.
