What's the deal with ASU SAT Requirements?

I keep hearing different things about Arizona State University's SAT requirements. Can anyone clarify what they generally look for in terms of SAT scores for incoming freshmen? I just want to know whether my score is competitive enough or if I should consider retaking.

Arizona State University (ASU) is indeed a point of many discussions regarding its SAT requirements. As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, ASU is test-optional which means standardized test scores (like the SAT) are not required for admission. Applicants can choose to submit their scores, but the absence of them will not hinder your application in any way.

However, if you still want to submit your scores, it's useful to know that the middle 50% SAT range for incoming freshmen at ASU is typically between 1130 to 1360. Hence, if your score falls within this range, it would be competitive for ASU. If your score is significantly lower than the 25th percentile (1130), you may want to consider retaking the exam or focusing on other aspects of your application as the SAT score will still be a consideration if you choose to submit them.

Remember, though, a great SAT score will never guarantee you admission nor will a low score necessarily rule you out. Other aspects of your application--such as your coursework rigor, extracurricular activities, personal essays, and letters of recommendation--play a significant role in the admissions process as well. If you have questions or concerns, consider reaching out to your admissions rep at ASU: https://admission.asu.edu/contact/undergraduate. I hope this helps!
