Are liberal arts colleges good for science?

Hey everyone, I'm a junior planning my college list and I've heard that liberal arts colleges can also provide strong science programs, but I'm not sure how true that is. Can someone shed some light on this? Are LACs actually good for science majors?

Certainly! Liberal arts colleges (LACs) can indeed offer robust science programs. The advantage of LACs is that they typically feature small class sizes, which means you can expect a lot of direct interaction with professors. They also often emphasize undergraduate research, which is a huge plus if you want to gain hands-on experience in your field of study.

For example, some LACs have research facilities and partnerships with larger institutions, granting access to resources that are beneficial for a science major. Moreover, the interdisciplinary approach at LACs can provide a broader scientific education, as you're encouraged to understand the connections between your major and other fields. Make sure to look at individual programs and what specific resources and opportunities they offer, like summer research fellowships, lab equipment, and the success of their alumni in science careers. These will give you a clearer picture of the strength of their science departments.
