Anyone knows about the admission process of Texas Southern University?

I'm really keen on applying to Texas Southern University but I'm a bit stuck on their GPA requirements. I've heard from different sources that you can get in with a lower GPA but have never come across an actual number. Does anyone have any specifics?

Texas Southern University has a rather unique approach to their admissions process. Rather than explicitly listing typical GPA requirements, they operate on a sliding scale based on a combination of GPA and SAT/ACT scores. The sliding scale essentially shows what the minimum GPA and test score combination would have to be for a student to be considered for admission.

Typically, a higher GPA allows for some flexibility with lower SAT/ACT scores, and a higher SAT/ACT score compensates for a lower GPA. For example, if an applicant has a lower GPA, say around 2.0, then they will typically need higher SAT/ACT scores.

Unfortunately, this makes it somewhat difficult to give a precise number for a "safe GPA", as your chances of admission turn on more than just that number in isolation. It may be best to directly reach out to the admissions office of Texas Southern University for more specific guidance, as they can provide the most accurate and current information.

Beyond the GPA and test scores, don’t forget to pay attention to other application requirements such as completing the SAT or ACT, submitting your high school transcript, and if you're an in-state student, completing the recommended high school curriculum. A strong application won't hinge solely on GPA or test scores, but rather on a comprehensive review of your academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and personal characteristics.
