Feeling down about my SAT score, 1370 good enough?

So, took my SAT and got a 1370. I have been studying for months, hoping for a score higher than that. Is a 1370 considered a good score? Would I be able to get into a reputable college with this score?

While it's understandable that you might feel disappointed if your score is lower than what you hoped for, it's important to remember that a 1370 is actually a solid score. It places you in roughly the 93rd percentile of all test takers, which means you scored higher than 93% of all the students who took the SAT.

As for college admissions, yes, you can definitely get into a reputable college with this score. Although more selective colleges might have higher average SAT scores, remember that these are just averages - not all the admitted students score above those averages. Plus, an application is much more than just a test score. Admissions committees consider a variety of factors including your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, essays, and recommendation letters.

However, it's important to research the average SAT scores at the colleges you are interested in. If the middle 50% SAT ranges of admitted students at your dream colleges are significantly higher than your score, you may consider retaking the SAT if you think you can improve. But remember, unless the colleges on your list are Dartmouth, Harvard, Purdue, Brown, Yale, UT Austin or Caltech, who require standardized test scores, many schools including Columbia, Princeton, Stanford, UPenn, Johns Hopkins, NYU, and UChicago, still have test-optional policies.

Overall, a 1370 is a decent score and you can absolutely get into a quality institution with it. Keep focusing on building a strong overall application to best represent your skills and potential.
