Canceling an Early Decision application?

Hi everyone, I submitted an Early Decision application, but had second thoughts about it. For any reason, would I be able to cancel my ED application and apply through the regular decision at a later date?

Greetings! It's quite common for students to reassess their college choices even after submitting applications. If you have submitted an Early Decision (ED) application but are now reconsidering, it is possible to withdraw your application before any decision has been made. The process for doing so would be to contact the admissions office of the institution as soon as possible, explain your situation candidly, and request to withdraw your application from the ED pool.

However, it is important to remember that if the college has already extended an offer of admission under the ED agreement, and you have accepted it, withdrawing would be against the ED policy unless there are significant changes in circumstances, like financial hardships. Regarding applying for Regular Decision later, that would be up to the policies of the individual college. Some might allow it, while others may not. Always check with the admissions office for the most accurate information.

Please take the time you need to make the best decision for your future, and don't hesitate to reach out to the admissions team with your concerns.
