I'm getting ready to apply to colleges and I'm curious about schools similar to American University in terms of campus vibe and academic programs, particularly in International Relations. Any recommendations?

Congratulations on taking the next step towards your college journey! If you're interested in a campus vibe and academic programs similar to American University, particularly for International Relations, you might want to consider schools like George Washington University, which is also in D.C. and offers a robust International Affairs program right in the heart of political action. Similarly, Tufts University near Boston has The Fletcher School, which is renowned for its focus on international matters.

Further afield, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore has a global reputation for its School of Advanced International Studies. Additionally, New York University has a strong international relations major and it has the added benefit of being located in the same city as the UN Headquarters! On the West Coast, the University of California—San Diego is another option with their School of Global Policy and Strategy. Each of these schools has a unique campus atmosphere but shares a strong emphasis on international discourse and policy education. Feel free to explore their websites and reach out to admissions for a feel of the campus culture to see which might be the best fit for you. Best of luck with your applications!
