Which math courses should I take in high school to prepare for college?

Hey peeps, I'm about to start my Junior year and I've already completed Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Not sure what to take next. Should I go for Pre-Calc or AP Calculus? Or is there another math course that's more beneficial? Thanks!

Most colleges typically expect students to complete at least through pre-calculus in high school. This class will essentially act as a bridge between the algebra and geometry classes you've taken so far, and more advanced concepts in calculus.

If you're thinking about pursuing a STEM field as a major, or simply enjoy math and feel comfortable with the concepts you've learned in your previous math classes, you might want to consider taking AP Calculus. The course will allow you to get comfortable with more advanced mathematical concepts and potentially even get a head start with college coursework, depending on your score on the AP exam and the college's AP credit policy.

AP Statistics is another option you might consider, especially if you're interested in fields such as psychology, sociology, business, or economics. Although statistics isn't generally viewed to be as advanced as calculus, the field teaches practical skills that are used across many disciplines.

Ultimately, the math course you choose to take next should align with your comfort level, academic goals, and potential major or field of interest in college. Consider discussing your options with your current math teacher as well, to get more personalized guidance on which
