Looking for Info on Oregon State University Admissions

I'm really interested in OSU and planning to apply there soon. Can anyone enlighten me on its admission rate? I hope it's not mega competitive. Also, any tips for a hopeful applicant?

Oregon State University (OSU) has a reputation for being more accessible than some of the highly selective universities. As of recent data, the acceptance rate floats around 83% which makes it moderately selective.

As an applicant, a couple of factors can give your application a boost. First, focus heavily on your academic performance - sound GPA and solid test scores can indeed make your application stand out. That said, OSU is test-optional as of the 2024-2025 application cycle, so you can choose whether or not to submit an SAT or ACT score. For reference, historical data shows that the middle 50% range for SAT scores is around 1120 to 1370, and ACT scores are typically between 22 and 30.

In addition to academics, the admissions team will consider other factors as well. OSU values applicants who have been engaged in their communities or have been involved in extracurricular activities. Showcase your leadership experiences, commitment to service, special talents, or exceptional achievements in your application.

When it comes to your personal statement, make sure you reveal the person behind the grades and extracurriculars. This is where you can mention your personal characteristics, aspirations, and why you're particularly interested in OSU. Make sure your essay is authentic, focused, and represents you.

Lastly, I'd recommend conducting some detailed research on your intended major, professors you'd like to study under, or unique programs that OSU offers that tie in with your future goals—the more specific your understanding of what you want to gain from OSU, the better.

Remember everything above is just a guideline - every application is unique and considered holistically! Best of luck with your application.
