Do colleges look at second semester senior year grades?

Hello! I know that colleges often review first semester senior year grades during the admissions process, but do they also look at second semester grades? If so, how important are those grades? I want to make sure I'm not slacking off too much or overlooking any crucial aspects of my application. Any advice would be appreciated!

Absolutely, colleges do take a look at second-semester senior year grades, particularly if your acceptance is contingent upon maintaining a certain level of academic performance. While your early admissions decisions might be based off your grades up to the first semester of senior year, your end-of-year transcripts will still be sent to the college you commit to. How these grades are weighted can differ from school to school, but slumping significantly can put you at risk for deferred admission or, in extreme cases, rescindment of your offer. For example, if a student who generally earns A's and B's suddenly drops to C's and D's, that could raise some concerns. It's best to continue working hard and ensure that you maintain a consistent academic record. Doing so not only keeps your admissions offer safe but also prepares you for the rigors of college coursework that's just around the corner. Keep focused, and finish strong!
