Hello folks! I've been gazing at the stars, and by stars, I mean Harvard. I realize getting in involves more than just scores, but I'm curious what the average GPA of students admitted into Harvard is. Anybody know?
Although most colleges, including Harvard, don't publish an average GPA of admitted students, it's known that the admission process is extremely selective and competitive. Thus, successful applicants typically have very high GPAs. It's safe to say, a large majority of admitted students at Harvard have unweighted GPAs of 3.9 or above, placing them in the top 2 percentile of their high school class.
That being said, GPA is just one component of your application. Harvard, like many other selective schools, employs a holistic review process. This means they consider not only your academic achievement, but also your extracurricular involvement, leadership roles, personal essays, recommendation letters, and any other notable achievements or experiences you can demonstrate in your application.
It's also important to note that having a high GPA doesn't guarantee admission, just as having a GPA that may be below average doesn't mean you'll be automatically rejected. At the end of the day, it's about the entire package you present and how you will contribute to the Harvard community. Every year, there are students who get into Harvard with GPAs and test scores that aren't quite as high as the averages, because they are exceptional in other ways.
