Duke ACT Averages?

What's up, folks! Just working on making a realistic dream college list. One of the schools I'm thinking about is Duke, but I'm not sure if my ACT score is competitive. What's the average ACT score for incoming students at Duke? Thanks, pals!

Hey there! The ACT scores for students who are admitted into Duke University typically fall between the 34-36 range. This makes their middle 50% ACT scores extremely competitive. But do keep in mind that these are average numbers, not absolute cutoffs. There can always be some margin at both ends of the spectrum, acceptance is not solely determined by test scores.

Also, remember that Duke, like many selective schools, adopts a holistic review process while considering applications. Beyond just standardized test scores such as the ACT, they will be keen to look at your GPA, rigor of curriculum, essays, teacher recommendations, and extracurricular activities among other aspects of your application.

So while a high ACT score can be beneficial, it won't be the single determiner of your admission chances. Hope this helps and good luck with your process!
