Does anyone have an SAT scoring sheet breakdown?

Hey everyone! Working on my SAT prep and seeing some practice scores that make me scratch my head. I was wondering if anyone has a detailed breakdown or a 'scoring sheet' to understand where the points come from.

Certainly! For sure, knowing how the scoring works can help strategize your test prep.

The SAT is comprised of two main sections, each scored on a scale of 200-800:

1. Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW)

2. Math

Then, these two scores are added together for your total score, with a maximum of 1600.

Here's a deeper breakdown of each section:

EBRW Section (200-800 points): This section is comprised of the Reading Test and the Writing and Language Test.

- Reading Test: This section consists of 52 questions. Each question you answer correctly is worth 1 raw point, incorrect answers don't deduct points, and omitted questions also don't deduct points. The raw points are then converted to a scaled score of 10-40.

- Writing and Language Test: This section consists of 44 questions. Much like the Reading Test, each correct answer equals to 1 raw point, incorrect answers don't deduct points, and omitted questions don't deduct points. The raw points are then also converted to a scaled score of 10-40.

The scaled scores from the Reading and Writing Tests are then added together and multiplied by 10 to calculate your final EBRW score.

Math Section (200-800 points): This section consists of two parts - the Math Test with calculator and the Math Test without calculator. In total, there are 58 questions (45 multiple choice and 13 gridded responses).

- These are scored in a similar way to the EBRW section where each correct answer gets 1 raw point, incorrect answers don't deduct points, and omitted questions don't deduct points. The raw points are then converted into a scaled Math score of 200-800.

It's good to remember that though the SAT is fully digital now, the scoring process remains the same. The Bluebook™ app provides a digital testing format that corresponds with the current SAT setup so that can be used for practice.

Remember, all these raw to scaled score conversions can differ from test to test but the change is usually not substantial. Hope this helps clear up the scoring process for you!
