Record-breaking SAT scores?

Hey y'all! Just a curious junior here – I was wondering, what's the highest SAT score ever recorded? Just wanna know how high the bar is set. Thanks a lot!

The SAT is scored on a scale of 400 to 1600, with 1600 being the perfect score. This is the highest possible score on the SAT, and any student who reaches this score has essentially hit the "ceiling" of the scoring scale.

That being said, only a small fraction of all test-takers achieve a perfect score. According to reports from the College Board, roughly 300 to 400 students out of the approximately 2 million who take the SAT each year earn a perfect score. So, while the perfect 1600 is the theoretical "high bar," it's important to remember that most accepted students at even highly selective colleges generally score somewhat below this threshold.

Remember, while a high score can be an asset in college applications, it's just one piece of the puzzle. Your transcript, extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, and application essays all play significant roles in the admission process as well. And a lot of colleges are moving towards test-optional policies, which suggests a shift in focus from quantitative measurements to holistic evaluations of applicants.
