Got a GPA query for University of Michigan

Hello everyone! I've got my eyes set on UM and I'm trying to figure out if my GPA stands a chance. Does anyone have an idea about the GPA requirements for Michigan? Your insight would be most welcome!

University of Michigan is a competitive institution and the admissions process can be quite rigorous. While they do not have a set minimum GPA, students admitted to UMich usually have high GPAs. The average unweighted GPA of admitted UMich students is approximately 3.9 on a 4.0 scale.

However, your GPA is not the sole factor in their evaluation process. Along with your GPA, UMich would also be considering your course rigor, meaning the difficulty of the classes you have taken. Taking AP or IB classes and receiving good grades in them can make your application more appealing, since it highlights your ability to handle challenging coursework.

They'll also take into account other components of your application, including your extracurricular involvement, essays, test scores, and letters of recommendation. Therefore, while a strong GPA can bolster your candidacy, other aspects of your profile will be crucial for a well-rounded application.

Also, keep in mind the admission process can vary from one college within UMich to another. For example, the College of Engineering might have slightly different expectations in terms of GPA and coursework than the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA).

Please continue working hard on all aspects of your profile and remember to convey your unique story and passion in your application. Best of luck!
