What's the Average ACT Score for Harvard Admissions?

Hey guys, I'm aiming for Ivy League—specifically Harvard next year. Does anyone know what their average ACT score acceptance range looks like? I'm a little nervous about my own score. Can anyone advise?

Harvard University, like many Ivy League schools, typically accepts students with very high ACT scores. The middle 50% ACT score range for admitted students is typically between 34 and 36. This means that 25% of admitted students score below a 34, while another 25% score a 36. The majority of students are within this range, but there are always exceptions.

Remember, though, that standardized test scores are just one part of your application. Harvard looks at your application holistically and considers many factors like your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities and the uniqueness of your narrative through your essays and other application components. For the 2024-2025 application cycle, Harvard is no longer test-optional and requires all applicants to submit an SAT or ACT score.

If your score isn't quite in the desired range, but you're still hopeful about your chances, focus on strengthening the rest of your application. Showcase your extracurriculars well (remember, Harvard prefers students with a highly-developed speciality, or 'spike'), make sure your recommendation letters are strong, and put a lot of effort into your essays. Test scores matter, but they are not the sole deciding factor in your application. Good luck!
