Finding Out Your Class Rank?

Hi folks. I'm thinking ahead to my college applications and I've seen a lot of colleges ask for class rank, but my school doesn't provide that info readily. Any advice on how to find out your class rank? Thanks!

Hello! It's common for high schools in several states to not rank their students. Firstly, it may be worthwhile to check in with your school counselor or the registrar. They may have access to this information even if it's not typically distributed to students.

However, if your school does truly not rank its students at all, that's okay. The majority of colleges understand this and are used to seeing applications without a class rank. They'll focus more on your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, and other elements of your application to understand your academic performance relative to peers.

In case a college's application specifically requests a class rank, you can simply indicate "School does not rank" if given the option, or leave it blank. Your counselor will likely confirm this in the school report they submit. Some applications might ask you to estimate your class rank. If this is the case, you could talk with your counselor to get a fair estimate. If you truly can't estimate, reach out to the college's admissions office for guidance.

However, remember to make sure any details you provide are accurate - educational institutions often check these details and discrepancies can lead to offers being rescinded.

Good luck with your college applications!
