Looking for tips to improve my SAT scores - Any strategies?

Hey folks, I've been prepping for the SAT for a while now, but I'm not quite hitting the score that I want. Anyone on here scored really well and have any strategies they can share? Particularly things that helped when you were stuck at a certain score. Any advice would be super appreciated!

Absolutely, happy to help! When it comes to SAT prep, you want to keep a focus on both content and strategy. For content, ensure that you have a firm understanding of the topics covered in the test. Use official SAT materials or books with review sections to study the underlying concepts in each subject area. For math, this could mean knowing the key principles and formulas related to algebra, geometry, data analysis etc., while for reading and writing this might be about refining your vocabulary and understanding of grammar rules.

In terms of strategies, one of the most effective methods is targeted practice using timed sections from official SAT practice tests. Identify your weak areas and focus on these. Let's say you often make mistakes on word problem questions in the Math section or you struggle with certain types of Reading Comprehension passages—concentrate on practicing these types of questions.

Use the timer on your phone or computer to simulate the conditions of the actual test. This will help improve your speed, accuracy and stamina. Don't skip the review portion after each practice test—go through your incorrect answers, understand why you got them wrong and note down the concept areas you need to review more.

Lastly, keep in mind the digital format of the SAT (as of spring 2024). The test is divided into four modules: two for Reading and Writing (32 minutes each) and two for Math (35 minutes each). It's crucial to master the format and timing of the test, so using the Bluebook™ app, which replicates the format of the digital test, could be beneficial.

Don't forget to also take care of your physical and mental well-being. Regular sleep, a good diet, consistent exercise and relaxation activities will all boost your performance.

Your persistence and dedication to improvement is key here. As you consistently apply these strategies, you might begin to see a rise in your scores.
