# How useful is the SAT math formula sheet?

So, I've been looking at the SAT formula sheet for math... is it actually useful? What all does it cover and what is it missing? Would it be more beneficial to construct my own during studies?

As a firm believer in learning the reasoning behind mathematical problems, I can tell you that the SAT math formula sheet may serve as a useful tool, but it's not an all-encompassing resource. The sheet mainly covers basic formulas and properties from algebra and geometry that you'll need for the test, like the area and circumference of a circle, the quadratic formula, and properties of special triangles.

However, it's essential to understand some crucial formulas are not included on the provided sheet. For example, you won't find formulas related to the laws of sines and cosines, slope-intercept form, or exponential growth and decay.

Building your own formula sheet can be an effective study technique. It forces you to think critically about the formulas you'll need, and the process of writing them down can help commit them to memory. Plus, you can tailor it to suit your needs, focusing on areas where you typically struggle and need extra reminders.

Just remember, the goal is not to memorize formulas, but to develop a fundamental understanding of the concepts they represent. The SAT doesn't merely test your memorization skills but rather pushes you to apply these concepts to solve problems. A formula sheet can assist, but knowledge and practice of how to use these equations will be the key to your success.
