SAT requirement for Tufts - what's the lowdown?

Hi! So, I'm seriously considering Tufts and I want to be sure my SAT scores are competitive enough. Could anyone elaborate on what the SAT scores typically look like for incoming students there?

While Tufts University is currently test-optional for both the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 application cycles, you can still choose to submit your SAT scores if you believe they will contribute positively to your application.

For some perspective, the middle 50% SAT scores for admitted students at Tufts ranged from 1470 to 1560. This range refers to the middle 50% of admitted students, so 25% of admitted students scored below a 1470 and another 25% scored above a 1560. These statistics, however, are a few years old and might not fully reflect the current situation, especially considering the impact of test-optional policies.

Keep in mind that at Tufts, as at any selective university, your scores only make up a portion of your overall application. A higher score does not guarantee admission, and similarly, a lower score does not necessarily mean a rejection, especially in the context of the test-optional policy. It would be best to consider whether your score is an accurate representation of your academic abilities, and if you decide it is, you should submit it.

Don't forget to also place focus on other aspects of your application like essays, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation. These aspects will help round out your application and give admissions officers a better understanding of who you are as a student and individual.
