Stanford University SAT Score Guide

Hey folks, I'm trying to form a testing strategy for Stanford. Do any of you have an idea about the SAT score range that accepted students at Stanford usually fall in? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! The middle 50% SAT score range for Stanford typically falls between 1470 and 1570. This means that about half of the accepted students scored in this range. A 1470 is the 25th percentile, which means that 75% of students scored at or above this, while a 1570 is the 75th percentile, meaning that 25% of students scored at or above this.

These numbers, though, do not dictate a threshold you must cross to get accepted. Students have indeed been accepted with SAT scores that fall below this range. Your chances also do not increase linearly with each additional SAT point, once you're above a certain baseline. It's also important to note that Stanford is one of many highly selective schools that engages in holistic review, which means they consider every piece of your application, not just your SAT score.

Nonetheless, a higher SAT score can of course help your application, especially when it comes to the initial Academic Index screening process. It would be beneficial if your SAT score falls within or above the band of scores typically seen among accepted students at Stanford. However, don't forget the importance of other factors such as your grades, the rigor of your high school curriculum as well as the quality of your essays and extracurricular activities.

Good luck with your testing and your application to Stanford!
