How does the admission process work for USF?

Hello folks! I've been eyeballing USF lately and wanted some details on how their admission process pans out. What is the timeline like, and what happens after I submit my application? I'm pretty nervous and want to be prepared.

Sure, happy to help you understand the admissions process at the University of South Florida (USF)!

First up, here's a snapshot of the timeline. Applications for the Fall semester open up on August 1st and the final deadline is June 1st. However, it's beneficial to apply by November 1st, the priority deadline, to be considered for merit-based scholarships. Within two weeks of applying, you should receive an email confirming that your application has been received.

The review process at USF is on a rolling basis, which means applications are evaluated as they are received. So the earlier you submit, the sooner you'll get a decision. It typically takes about two weeks from the time all admissions documents are received.

Once you apply, your application will pass through a few steps. It will first be checked for completeness - all transcripts, test scores (if submitting), and the application fee should be submitted. Then, it’ll be reviewed in detail. USF has a holistic application review – that means in addition to your grades and curriculum rigor, they will also look at factors like extracurricular activities, community service, talent, and character.

You'll be notified of your admission decision via email and you can also check your status online through your account on the USF website. If admitted, you'll be asked to submit a nonrefundable $200 deposit to secure your spot, and this would generally be due by May 1st.

Lastly, get excited about USF! They have plenty to offer across their various colleges. In the meantime, don't worry too much. Stay organized, submit all your materials, and remember to breathe. Let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck!
