Confused about AP Exams Sign-up

Yo! I'm hyped to take my first AP exams this year but I'm a little lost about how to sign up for them. Could anyone guide me on how and when to sign up for AP exams? Thanks, y'all!

Hey there, kudos to you for taking your first AP exams! It's an exciting endeavour and can open many doors for an intriguing academic journey.

So, here's the deal - The process for signing up for AP exams can vary slightly based on your school, but generally, the following steps are involved:

Step 1: Speak to your AP Coordinator or Counselor– usually, this will be someone from your school like a counselor or an AP teacher. They are the person at your school who'll handle all things AP.

Step 2: Your AP coordinator will then provide you with information regarding what steps you need to take to sign up for the AP exams you wish to take. This typically involves filling out some sort of form either on paper or online, where you'll choose which exams you plan to take.

Step 3: Pay the AP Exam fee – The cost for each AP exam is $98, though there may be an additional fee if your school charges for proctoring the exam. Make sure to secure and finalize this early.

Time of Registration: The registration period for AP exams happens in the fall. The deadlines are generally in early November for full-year and first-semester AP classes. If you're taking a course that starts in the second semester, the deadline is typically in March.

Important Note: Missed the deadline? Some schools and online services may offer a late registration option, but a late fee of $40 is tacked onto the exam fee. So, it's beneficial to avoid delaying your registration.

Even though the sign-up process isn't too complex, remember that taking an AP class or studying for an AP exam can be a lot of work. Take the time to think about how many AP classes and exams you're prepared to handle effectively and plan accordingly.

Best of luck on your AP exam journey! You've got this.
