Trying to navigate the UMass Boston application process

UMass Boston is definitely catching my eye lately. Could someone please walk me through their application process? Really want to ace it.

Absolutely, I'm glad you're interested in UMass Boston! Here's a breakdown of the application process:

1. Application Form: First and foremost, you'll need to complete their application form. For UMass Boston, you can do this via the Common Application. This is an online platform that many universities use for applications, and it allows you to apply to multiple schools at once.

2. High School Transcript: You'll also need to request your high school transcript to be sent to UMass Boston. This can usually be done through your high school guidance office.

3. Letters of Recommendation: UMass Boston recommends at least one letter of recommendation, preferably from a teacher who has taught you in an academic subject. However, more than one letter may be submitted if you wish. It's a good idea to approach teachers who know you well, who can touch upon your strengths and potential in depth.

4. Exam Scores: Standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) are optional for UMass Boston. If you choose to submit them, you can do so by having them sent directly from the College Board or ACT, or through the Common Application.

6. Essay: As part of the Common Application, you will be asked to write a personal essay. This is your opportunity to give the admissions officers a better understanding of who you are, your achievements, and why you're interested in attending UMass Boston. Remember to revise and proofread your essay to ensure it's the best it can be.

7. Application Fee: Lastly, there's a $60 non-refundable application fee that must be paid when you submit your application. In some cases, it can be waived based on financial hardship.

After submitting your application, you might have to wait a few weeks to couple of months for a decision. In the meantime, you can check the status of your application through the UMass Boston Student Portal.

Best of luck with your application, and don't hesitate if you have more questions!
