Do colleges still require ACT Writing?

Hey guys, I'm kinda confused. I've heard that some colleges require the ACT writing, but I'm not sure which ones. Does anyone have a good resource or perhaps a list of colleges that still require the ACT Writing section? Thanks!

The ACT Writing section, which was optional to begin with, has become less relevant in recent years. More and more colleges have stopped requiring it due to its low uptake and the difficulty in comparing scores across different test-takers and sessions.

Currently, very few schools in the United States require the ACT Writing section. This includes service academies like the United States Military Academy (West Point) and the Coast Guard Academy. Some specific programs may also still require written sections, but these are increasingly rare.

If you're applying to a particular program or school, it's always a good idea to double-check their testing requirements on their official admissions webpage. The policies can change from year to year, so the information on their site will be the most accurate. And remember: even if the writing section isn't required, students can still choose to take it if they believe it will strengthen their application.

Also, keep in mind that even if a school doesn't require the writing section, some students choose to take it to demonstrate their writing skills more clearly. This can be especially relevant if your application emphasizes those skills heavily (such as applicants to English or journalism programs.)
