SAT scores for University of Texas?

Hi peeps! I'm really hoping to get into UT Austin, and I'm trying to figure out if my SAT score is competitive. Does anyone know what their median SAT score is? Or any additional insight about how important the SAT score is for admission?

Yes, of course! As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) has reinstated the requirement of submitting an SAT or ACT score as part of your college application.

While it's difficult to provide an exact median SAT score due to the varying nature of applicant pools each year, it's generally observed that successful applicants to UT Austin typically score in the top 20% nationally on the SAT. That puts you at a 1280 on a 1600 scale, according to College Board's conversions. However, remember that this is just an approximation and the actual stats may vary.

Beyond that, it's also important to highlight that while your SAT score is indeed an important aspect of your application, it's far from being the only factor UT Austin considers. UT Austin practices a holistic review process, which means they look at your high school course rigor, grades, extracurricular activities, essays, and other elements of your application along with your standardized test scores.

To further understand how your application might stand out, take into account UT Austin's comprehensive approach to evaluating applicants. For example, they weigh the uniqueness and depth of your extracurricular activities, the level of difficulty of your course load in relation to what's available at your high school, and the quality of your essays.

So while your SAT score is certainly a key part of your application, don't neglect the other aspects that can contribute to presenting a well-rounded and impactful profile to the admissions committee. Good luck with your applications!
