AP Class Decision Anxiety: What should I take during sophomore year?

Feeling a bit overwhelmed with the AP class choices for next year. Can you guys share what APs you took in sophomore year? I'm aiming for a STEM-focused college path but also want to show a well-rounded curriculum.

It's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed when choosing your AP classes, especially when you're considering a STEM-focused college path but also want to maintain a well-rounded academic profile. In your sophomore year, it's beneficial to start with one or two AP courses in your areas of strength or interest. Since you're aiming for STEM, AP Calculus (if you're ready for it) or AP Statistics could complement your math skills, and AP Biology or AP Chemistry would strengthen your science background. Additionally, you could consider an AP course outside of STEM to show breadth, like AP World History or AP English Language. Remember, it's not just about the number of AP classes you take, but also about how you can manage the workload while still maintaining a strong performance across all your subjects. Colleges will appreciate the rigour of AP courses, but they also value a strong GPA, so balance is key. For example, a student at my school who was also pursuing a STEM track successfully combined AP Computer Science with AP English to mirror both STEM strength and a breadth of study. Feel free to reach out to a counselor for personalized advice based on your academic history and college goals!
