What Math Classes Should I Take Senior Year?

Hey guys! So, I'm going into my senior year and I'm a bit unsure about what math class to take. What types of math classes did you guys take in your senior year? Any advice?

It's great that you're planning your senior year and thinking about your course load. The type of math class you should opt for truly depends on your previous coursework, future plans, and interests.

If you have completed pre-calculus or trigonometry in your junior year, you might want to look at taking a calculus or stats class depending on your career interests. For instance, if you're interested in fields such as engineering, physics, or economics, calculus could be beneficial for you. On the other hand, if you're considering more social science or humanities studies, a statistics course would probably be more relevant.

If you're aiming for selective colleges, Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus AB or BC, or AP Statistics are good choices. These advanced classes are often viewed favorably in the admissions process, as they show your willingness to challenge yourself academically.

Keep in mind that if your school offers IB classes, you can opt for the IB Math courses as well. These are rigorous and provide a good foundation for college-level math.

Lastly, if you have completed calculus and are looking for further options, consider classes such as linear algebra, multivariable calculus, or differential equations if your school offers these.

In any case, just ensure that the class you take aligns with the overall academic rigor of your high school career. Discuss it with your guidance counselor - they can provide suggestions based on your personal objectives and academic profile. Good luck!
