Can anyone explain the structure of the AP Biology exam?

I need some advice. I’m starting to study for the AP Bio exam and heard that it's changed recently. How is the exam structured? I’m looking for a breakdown of the sections and types of questions so I can plan my studying appropriately.

Absolutely, gearing up for an understanding of the test structure is a smart move. The AP Biology exam is structured into two main sections. Section I consists of multiple-choice questions, which account for 60% of the final score. You'll face 60 questions and will have 90 minutes to complete them. These questions include individual questions and sets grouped around a common theme or data set.

Section II contains the free-response questions, which make up the remaining 40% of the score. There are six questions to complete in 90 minutes: two long-form and four short-form. The long-form questions might ask you to interpret a graph or experimental results, while the short-form questions are generally more direct.

When planning your study, focus on both factual recall and the application of knowledge, as the exam assesses your ability to analyze and interpret data, as well. Practice with questions from previous exams will be invaluable in your preparation.
