Hi, I'm currently a junior and UT Austin is one of my top choices. However, I'm unsure if they require the SAT. Could anyone clarify that for me, it would greatly help with my application preparation.
UT Austin, as of the 2024-2025 application cycle, has reinstated its requirement for applicants to submit either SAT or ACT scores as part of the application. This represents a change from the previous several years, during which the university had a test-optional policy in place. So yes, you will indeed need to provide your SAT or ACT scores when you apply.
As you prepare for the SAT, remember that UT Austin, like many other universities, focuses on the composite score. So, strive for balance in your prep time between the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section and the Math section.
The digital SAT format, introduced in Spring 2024, may feel different if you have taken the paper version before. Through the Bluebook™ app, you can find full-length practice tests simulating this new digital format if that's helpful for your preparation.
Good luck with your preparation and your application to UT Austin!
