Future Wolverines, lend me your insights! What GPA does the University of Michigan really look for in their applicants? Is it as high as the rumors say?
Hello Future Wolverines! When it comes to the University of Michigan's desired GPA, it's important to understand that they consider a range of GPAs—any numbers you see being thrown around are averages, or based on one person's anecdotal experience.
That being said, generally, a competitive GPA would be above a 3.8 on an unweighted scale. However, UM also considers the rigor of your course load, improvements in your grades over time, and the context of your high school. For example, if you've taken numerous AP or IB courses and maintained a 3.7, that could be looked upon more favorably than a 3.9 with only lower level classes.
Best of luck to you!
