Just got a 1540 on the SAT (which I'm thrilled about!) but a lot of the schools I'm looking into prefer the ACT. Does anyone know how this score would convert to an ACT score?
While exact conversions between the SAT and ACT aren't precise because the tests are fundamentally different, we do have a range to work with based on correlation data. A 1540 on the SAT can roughly align with a 34-35 on the ACT.
Keep in mind that this is just an estimate. Excluding the differences in format (the ACT has a Science section, for instance, while the SAT does not), each test has its emphasis and style. Suppose you decide to take the ACT. In that case, it's recommended to get comfortable with its particular format and timing by doing some ACT-specific preparatory study and practice tests. But it's important to remember that both SAT and ACT scores are considered equally in the admissions process, despite some schools' purported preferences. So, cheers on your brilliant score!
