What GPA does Georgia State University usually admit?

I've got my sights set on Georgia State University, but not quite sure what my GPA should look like for a solid shot. Anyone knows of the average GPA of incoming students there? Also, do they take weighted GPAs into account?

Georgia State University typically admits students with a GPA around 3.6 on an unweighted 4.0 scale, although this is just an average and not a strict cut-off. It's important to bear in mind that a lower GPA could potentially be offset by other strengths in your application, such as strong test scores or impressive extracurriculars.

Regarding your second question, yes, Georgia State University does take weighted GPAs into account. They will understand that students taking more rigorous courses might have a slightly lower GPA, so having AP and/or honors classes on your transcript can definitely benefit your application. But remember, colleges care about the context of your grades - a low GPA in a rigorous curriculum is typically better than a high GPA in a less challenging one.

In addition to your GPA, do keep in mind that other aspects of your application, such as your SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular involvement and personal statement, also play a significant role in the admissions decision. So, while targeting a competitive GPA is important, ensure you present a well-rounded application.
