UIUC - Is it test optional?

Hello community, I've been considering UIUC and heard some news of it being test-optional. Can anyone confirm or provide some details about this? I'm a little lost about what this means for me and my application. Thanks in advance!

Yes, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) is indeed test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle. This means that you are not required to submit an SAT or ACT score as part of your application. However, if you've taken a standardized test and believe it adds strength to your application, then you have the option to submit it.

In a test-optional environment, if you choose not to submit test scores, UIUC will place more weight on other parts of your application, such as your GPA, course rigor, essays, and extracurriculars. So, make sure these elements of your application truly reflect your abilities and strengths.

That being said, there is no right or wrong choice when it comes to submitting scores under a test-optional policy. What suits one applicant may not necessarily suit another, so consider what you feel best showcases your strengths and capabilities. Good luck with your application!
