How important are senior year extracurriculars to colleges?

Hey fellow A2Cers! I'm a junior right now, and I'm outlining my activities for senior year. I’d love some insight into whether colleges look at senior year extracurriculars closely, or if they're more focused on what I've done up to junior year?

Colleges definitely take note of your extracurricular activities in your senior year, as they are interested in seeing your ongoing commitment and development in areas that matter to you. While they'll consider your achievements up to your junior year, they also look favorably on students who continue to pursue and deepen their involvement in activities throughout their entire high school career. Broadening or advancing your leadership roles, taking on new responsibilities, or achieving notable accomplishments in your senior year can all strengthen your application. This could mean leading a project, achieving higher levels within an organization, or engaging with new initiatives. Remember that depth is preferable to breadth – it's more about the impact and growth in a few areas than spreading yourself thin over many activities. Just ensure when you report your planned senior year activities in your college applications, they reflect a realistic continuation of your interests.
