What kinds of majors are out there?

Hey everyone, I'm a current junior struggling with deciding what I want to major in. There are so many options, and my school counselors give me broad categories. Could anyone tell me about the less common or unique majors you've heard of, or are pursuing? I'd love to hear more about your experiences.

Absolutely, there's an incredible variety of majors out there beyond the standard ones you might immediately think of, like English, Biology, or Business. Let's explore a few interesting ones you might not have considered:

1. Aerospace Engineering: This is for those with a passion for the stars and physics. Aerospace engineers design aircraft, satellites, and spacecraft, among other things.

2. Environmental Science: This field studies the environment and how to protect it. It combines elements of biology, chemistry, physics, and social sciences, and is ideal if you're passionate about climate change or conservation efforts.

3. Fashion Merchandising: If you're interested in the fashion industry but not necessarily in designing clothes, Fashion Merchandising could be the perfect fit. It covers the business side of fashion, including buying, product development, and brand management.

4. International Relations: This major is for those interested in how countries interact in the global sphere. It can pave the way for careers in diplomacy, international law, or non-governmental organizations.

5. Food Science: This one is a blend of biology, chemistry, and culinary arts, focusing on the scientific principles behind food production and consumption.

6. Game Design: If you love video games and have creative ideas of your own, a major in Game Design would allow you to explore the conceptual and technical aspects of creating games.

7. Sports Management: For sports enthusiasts, this major is about the business and administrative components of the sports industry.

8. Marine Biology: This may seem like a niche biology major, but it has broad coverage. It's great for those interested in marine life and preserving oceanic ecosystems.

9. Landscape Architecture: This is a blend of art and science, focusing on the design of outdoor public areas, landmarks, and structures to achieve environmental, social-behavioral, and aesthetic outcomes.

10. Urban Studies/Planning: Interested in improving cities and understanding their dynamics? Urban Studies might be for you. This major focuses on improving the quality of life in urban settings through planning and design.

Each of these majors can lead to unique careers that have the power to make meaningful impacts. Explore subjects that genuinely interest you, and don't be afraid to step outside of the traditional paths!
