What's the typical ACT score for admitted Duke students?

Hi guys, I'm working on my application for Duke and I'm really concerned about the ACT. I know it's super competitive, so could someone tell me what's the average ACT score for Duke? Would it significantly lower my chances if my score is slightly lower?

For Duke University, the middle 50% of admitted students typically have ACT scores between 34 and 35. This means that 25% of students score below 34 and 25% score above 35.

While it's true that these scores tend to be relatively high, keep in mind that Duke also considers other elements of your application beyond standardized test scores. They value a strong high school GPA, rigorous coursework, compelling essays, and extracurricular activities where you have shown significant commitment or attained notable levels of achievement.

In case your ACT score is slightly lower than their middle 50% range, don’t rush to retake the test unless you’re confident you can improve. A slightly lower score would not necessarily disqualify you outright, especially if you present a strong application in other areas.

Remember that Duke is test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle, so if you don't think your score represents your abilities, you could consider not submitting it. However, if you're confident your score presents an accurate reflection of your abilities, by all means, include it with your application. Completeness can add strength to your application, but it's equally important to put forward a realistic picture of your achievements. It’s a careful balancing act. Best of luck with your application!
