Calc AB or BC - which one's the beast?

Hey guys, I'm kinda sweating bullets here. For the next school year, I've to opt between Calc AB and BC. Although I'm pretty comfortable with math, the debate between its difficulty level is giving me cold feet. Any advice?

Hey there! Based on what you've shared, it really hinges on your comfort with math, your intended major in college, and your capacity to handle the course load.

Calc AB is somewhat like a half-year college calculus course, covering topics like derivatives, integrals, and the fundamentals of differential equations. On the other hand, BC is a full year of college calculus, doubling down on everything covered in AB while also introducing more complex topics such as series and sequences and polar coordinates.

If you're looking into STEM fields like engineering or physics, Calc BC could give you a real advantage, as you'll be further ahead when you start college. However, if the added pressure of BC might compromise your performance in other classes or extracurriculars, Calc AB might be a better option. After all, mental health and a balanced schedule are just as important as challenging academic workload.

Maybe you could gauge the opinion of your current math teacher or the teachers who teach Calc AB and BC? They would have a good understanding of your math skills and whether you'd thrive in BC. Good luck with your decision!
