What's the typical ACT score for Dartmouth?

I just got my ACT score and Dartmouth is one of my dream schools. Can anybody let me know what the typical ACT score range for accepted students is? I want to know if my score is competitive enough or if I should consider a retake. Any advice is appreciated!

For Dartmouth College, the typical ACT score range for accepted students is approximately 32-35. However, this is not a definitive cut-off and it's important to remember that test scores are not the sole factor in the admissions process. Dartmouth, like many selective schools, takes a holistic approach to admissions, meaning they consider a multitude of factors such as your grades, course rigor, extracurriculars, and essays, beyond just your ACT score.

If your ACT score is currently below this range, it's worth considering a retake, especially if you feel there were extenuating circumstances that negatively affected your performance or if you strongly believe you can improve with more preparation. Alternatively, if you're in the range or above, it may be more beneficial to focus on other elements of your application, like strengthening your essays or involvement in extracurricular activities. Worth noting, however, is that Dartmouth has resumed requiring all applicants to submit an SAT or ACT score, as of the 2024-2025 application cycle.

Ultimately, the decision to retake the ACT should be made in the context of your entire application and personal circumstances. Try to build a well-rounded profile, showcasing your academic abilities and personal interests, to demonstrate to Dartmouth how you could contribute to their community. Good luck with your college application journey!
