ACT Scores Required for Brown

Hey everyone, I've been eyeing Brown as my dream university for a while now. For those who have applied or got in, could you share what ACT scores you need to be competitive? How important are the scores compared to the rest of the application? Thanks in advance.

While Brown does consider standardized test scores in their application review process, they adopt a holistic process where other factors also play a significant role. However, for the 2024-2025 application cycle, Brown is no longer test-optional, meaning they require the submission of ACT or SAT scores for all applicants.

As for the ACT scores specifically, it's important to note that most accepted students at Brown typically score in the top 5% on the ACT, which is between 34 to 35. However, this doesn't mean an ACT score within this range will guarantee acceptance, nor does a score slightly below this range automatically disqualifies you. Brown will also look at your grades, rigor of coursework, extracurricular activities, essays, recommendation letters, and other factors when evaluating your application.

Thus, while it's beneficial to aim for a high ACT score, it's equally important to present a strong application in other areas as well. This includes showcasing your achievements, commitment, and leadership through your extracurricular activities, and conveying your interests and personal values in your essays. Best of luck with your application to Brown!
