Repeat AP Exams?

Has anyone ever taken the same AP exam more than once? I'm not exactly thrilled with my score from last year, and I'm considering a redo. Is that even a thing, and if so, what should I consider before I decide to retake it? Would colleges find it weird or impressive that I'm trying to improve my score?

You can indeed retake an AP exam the following year if you're not satisfied with your score. As for whether it's common, it's certainly less usual than retaking the SAT or ACT, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider it if you feel you can significantly improve your score. Before you decide, weigh the time commitment against your current coursework and other obligations. If you have the bandwidth to study and feel confident you can achieve a higher score, go for it. Your dedication to mastering the subject could indeed be viewed positively by colleges, showing you are committed to academic growth.

However, it's also essential to consider the cost and whether the improved score would have a substantial impact on your college applications. For example, if you're applying to a college that awards credit only for scores of 4 or 5 and you previously received a 3, the retake could be advantageous. Just ensure that it won’t detract from your performance in current AP classes or other areas of your application that are also important.
