Question about photo for SAT

Hi guys, I'm getting ready to register for the SAT and I've read that I need to upload a photo. Can anyone share what the specifications are for it? Like, should it be passport size or something else? Plus, are there any restrictions on what's in the background, etc.? Also, is this photo used during check-in on test day?

For the digital SAT registration, you indeed need to upload a photo. The photo you provide becomes a part of your SAT Admission Ticket and will also appear where you test. Here are the specific requirements:

1. Your photo must be a clear image of you and only you (not a group photo).

2. You must be in clear focus and facing the camera directly, not in profile or angled view.

3. Your full face should be visible.

4. There should be no dark spots or shadows. The background should be plain and light colored, but it doesn't have to be white.

5. Hats and head coverings are only allowed for religious purposes or if you're wearing it daily for medical reasons. Shades and headphones aren't allowed.

6. The photo should reflect your current appearance, within the last six months.

As for the size, you don't need to worry about that too much. The online registration process will automatically resize your picture to fit the designated space, but the uploaded photo file size must be no larger than 2MB. It's not a 'passport size' photo, but more of a portrait that includes down to your shoulders.

Your photo is indeed used during check in on the test day for identification purposes, along with your admission ticket. You must bring a printed copy of your SAT Admission Ticket and acceptable photo identification (like a driver's license, state-issued ID, or passport).

Good luck with your SAT registration and preparation!
