What's a Good SAT Score for Purdue University?

Hi! So I'm planning on applying to Purdue University as an engineering major. Does anyone have an idea of what kind of SAT scores they're looking for? I'd appreciate it if someone who's been through the process could provide some insight. Thanks in advance!

Purdue University is known for its competitive engineering programs. While it can be difficult to pinpoint a specific SAT score that could guarantee admission, there is some range you can aim to fall into, given what we know about their freshman class profile.

For the Fall 2023 admitted students, the middle 50% range was between 1190 and 1430. Remember, that means 25% of admitted students had SAT scores above 1430, and 25% had SAT scores below 1190.

Breaking it down into the math and reading/writing components, for math, the middle 50% range was 600 - 740, and for the evidence-based reading and writing, it was 590 - 690.

Now, these numbers are useful for getting a broad understanding of what SAT scores Purdue admits, but admission isn't solely based on this. Each application is reviewed holistically, and your test scores are just one factor among many. Considering you are applying for engineering, Purdue will also look at your transcript to see that you've challenged yourself with rigorous math and science coursework.

It’s also important to remember that starting from the 2024-2025 application cycle, Purdue University requires all applicants to submit SAT or ACT scores. This means that the school has shifted from being test-optional to requiring standardized test scores.

Good luck with your application to Purdue's engineering program!
