For AP Psychology, how intense is the exam really?

So I've been hearing different things about AP Psych—some say it's super easy, and others say it’s deceptively hard. I'm thinking of self-studying for it since I'm pretty interested in psychology. Any advice on what to expect or how to prep?

Hey there! It's great to hear about your interest in psychology and your initiative to self-study for AP Psychology. The exam experience can indeed vary between students, but generally, AP Psychology is known to be one of the more approachable AP exams. The key is to familiarize yourself with the terminology, major concepts, and historical figures in psychology.

The exam is split into multiple-choice and free-response sections, with the former being more about recognizing terms and concepts, and the latter testing your ability to apply them. A common strategy is to use review books specifically designed for the AP Psychology exam and complement them with an active study approach, such as flashcards or study groups, to reinforce the material. For the free-response questions, practice is crucial. Try to take past exam questions and write out full answers to get a feel for the structure and depth required. It’s all about getting comfortable with the material and applying it, so give yourself plenty of time to review and practice. Good luck!
