Early Decision Applications

Hello! I'm in the midst of applying to colleges and have a query. How many early decision applications can you actually apply to? Anyone have a clear idea? Would really appreciate the help!

Hey there! Your question is definitely a common one among students navigating the Early Decision process. The key thing to remember with Early Decision (ED) is that it is a binding agreement. What this means is that if you're accepted to a college that you applied to through ED, you're obligated to go there and withdraw any other applications you may have submitted.

Because of this binding nature, you can apply to only one college through Early Decision. This commitment ensures that colleges know you place them as your first choice, and you're promising to attend if admitted. However, while you may only submit one ED application, this doesn't limit the number of Early Action (EA) applications you can send out, as EA is not binding.

Make sure to choose your ED school wisely—it should be a place where you would be thrilled to attend and where the financial aspects would be workable for you and your family (you could use the school's net price calculator to estimate this). Hope this clarifies the process for you! Good luck with your applications.
