Help with AP Test Registration

Hey everyone, I'm planning on taking some AP tests this year but a bit lost about the registration process. When is the deadline to sign up for an AP test? Is there anything that I should know or be careful about during the process? Thanks in advance!

The registration process for AP exams typically begins in the fall of the academic year, around early to mid-October. However, the registration deadline varies from one school to another as your local school coordinates it.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, the recommended deadline for schools to submit exam orders is November 15, 2024, but your school may set a different deadline. Make sure to check with a teacher or counselor at your school to confirm exactly when you need to register by.

There is also a late registration period in the spring, but this comes with a $40 late order fee, so it's best to avoid waiting until then unless necessary.

A key point to remember during the registration process is that you sign up for the exam through the College Board's My AP platform. This online system is where you enroll in your AP class sections and subsequently register for the corresponding exams.

Remember to confirm the exam dates and other details carefully because AP exams cannot be rescheduled at an individual student’s request. Each AP exam is administered on two dates—one in primary and another in late testing period. Your exam's date depends on your school's decision.

If you're homeschooled or attending a school that does not administer the AP exam you wish to take, you will need to arrange to take the test at a local school that does administer the exam.
