AP Credit transfer policy at TCU?

Hi folks! I've been taking a bunch of AP courses hoping to get a head start in college. I'm particularly interested in TCU; does anyone know how they handle AP credits or if they accept most of them? Thanks in advance!

Hi! Yes, Texas Christian University (TCU) does accept AP credits, but like most universities, there's a minimum score you need on each AP test to be awarded the credit.

The scores needed typically range from a 3 to a 5, depending on the course. For example, if you have taken AP Calculus BC and you receive a 3 or above, you would be granted up to 8 credits. On the other hand, if you've taken AP Art History, you need a score of 4 or 5 to get 3 credits.

It's crucial to remember that AP credit won't necessarily fulfill all degree requirements, even if the credit is accepted by the university. The allowed credits, specific course equivalencies, and department policies can all influence this.

You can find a detailed breakdown of the entire credit transfer policy, specific to TCU, on their registrar's office webpage or you could reach out to them directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Keep in mind that policies can change, so be sure to check as close to your application (or enrollment) as possible.

Congrats on challenging yourself with AP courses! They're not just great for earning college credit, but they also help show colleges that you're ready for college-level work. Good luck with your application to TCU!
