GPA Requirement for Texas A&M?

Howdy! I'm really interested in Texas A&M and was wondering what GPA they're looking for. Is there a certain threshold I need to cross? Also, has that changed recently?

Texas A&M University doesn't officially specify a minimum GPA requirement for admission. That being said, the average GPA of admitted students tends to be quite high. For first year students admitted for Fall 2023, the average GPA of Texas A&M admitted students was about 3.7 on a 4.0 scale. This means that if your GPA is in this range, you're considered competitive for admission, but even those with GPAs below this range are still encouraged to apply considering Texas A&M uses a holistic admissions policy.

Mind you, while GPA is important, it's only one component of your application. Other factors like your standardized test scores (if submitted), extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and essays will also be taken into consideration. If you're a Texas resident, also take into account Texas's automatic admissions policy, which guarantees admission to state-funded universities, including Texas A&M, for students in the top 10% of their high school class.

As for any recent changes, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted many elements of the college application process, but as of now, there hasn't been an official change to how Texas A&M generally considers GPA in their review process. It's always a good idea to double-check Texas A&M's admissions website or contact their admissions office for the most current and accurate information.
