How to register for the AP test?

I have decided to self-study for some AP exams. Can anybody tell me the steps to register for the AP test? Also, can I register for any AP exam or are there restrictions?

Great choice! Registering for AP exams as a self-studying candidate can be a bit tricky, but totally doable. Here's how you would do it:

1. Contact AP Services: Reach out to AP Services no later than March 1. You can find contact information on the College Board's website. They can give you a list of local AP coordinators who may be able to arrange testing for you.

2. Contact AP Coordinators: Call the AP coordinators on the list you get from AP Services to see if their school is able to test outside students.

3. Register: If a school agrees to test you, they will provide the necessary information and deadlines for registering for the test.

Remember, not every school may be able to accommodate you so starting this process early is key.

Regarding the choice of AP tests, as a rule, you're able to register for most AP exams as a self-study candidate. However, there can be restrictions for exams that require a portfolio submission (like AP Art and Design) or face-to-face speaking components (like AP language exams). For these types of exams, you should reach out to the College Board or coordinating school for further clarification. Best of luck!
